DIPLOMA (YEAR TWO) – Fashion Design

This advanced programme builds on the core skills acquired at year one (level 4) and allows learners to construct their own garment collections while working with a variety of textiles, pattern matching and advanced industry techniques. This programme provides the learner with a practical knowledge and skills to enable them to set up their own design or manufacturing business.

Learners are taught Computer Aided Design (CAD)  software to create and grade patterns and create a lay plan suitable for production.  Each semester the learner produces an collection for their own niche market (four collections in total), in addition learners develop their own portfolios, sketches, label/brand and have a photo shoot (to be used for an online presence and a ‘look book’).

Features of this course include : utilising fabric technology to enhance the garment balance, advanced pattern engineering, fashion drawing, costuming, millinery and using boning and draping for evening wear.    Student loans and allowances are available.
